Middle School

General Information

Middle School - The middle school program plays a full sided game with a combination of 6th through 8th grade players. There are weekend and weeknight games at NASA and at communities on the East side of the 270 outer belt. The team plays in a tournament at the end of the season. Two T-shirts must be purchased at the online store.

Program and Format Middle School players are generally in the 6th to 8th grades. They are more interested in competition at this age. More than half of the games are played close to or at the Baker Blvd (NASA) fields playing against other middle school aged teams. They play two games a week and occasionally a game is in a community on the 270 outer-belt. As a Recreational team the player is not required to play all games but the minimum playtime is 45% of the games played. Often, the coaches, team managers, and other helpers are all parent volunteers.

Dates of Registration Registration space is limited and starts the mid of July for the Fall season and the beginning of January for the Spring season and ends when full on or before the week before first game.

Dates The season will run from September through October for the Fall and April through May for the Spring season.

Practice The middle school team practice schedule will be decided by the Head Coach of the team, but will normally be twice a week with most games on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon.

Parent Involvement Although each team will have either a head staff coach or head parent coach, we would like all parents to be involved in helping and encouraging the players. Encouragement for the team at this age is important, whether they win or lose. We look for adults to be a positive role model and supportive of all participants. And quiet if they can not be a supportive role model.

End of Season Tournament There will be tournament games towards the end of the season. Dates and schedule are TBA based on team performance during the season. Every effort is made to adjust the competitive level up or down as is necessary to improve the relative abilities of the teams. In order to accomplish level seeding of the teams, geographic considerations are no longer used in tournament placement. NASA tries to host some of the divisions but your tournament may be in Columbus potentially playing different teams than played during the season in order to adjust the competition level for your team.
